Pet Sharing
East Orange Animal Alliance is unique because we are neither a shelter or a rescue group. Our mission is to provide support and make connections to support at-risk pets in East Orange. We work closely with the East Orange Shelter, and network the shelter pets with our valued rescue organizations to get these dogs and cats one step closer to their forever home.
Currently, the animal welfare industry is struggling to move shelter pets. Cats and Dogs are staying in shelters longer, and there is a lack of foster families available, so rescue groups can’t take new animals.
The Alliance is always looking to be part of the solution. So, we are asking you to consider Pet Sharing with one of our Rescue Partners.
Many cats and dogs find a shelter environment very stressful. It is difficult, if not impossible, to accurately describe a pets temperament, activity level, and ability to live with other pets. By allowing a shelter pet to decompress in a home, a rescue can gain valuable insight into the best fit for a forever home.
The rescue organization that you Pet Share with will cover all the costs of veterinary treatment, food, and all supplies that you need to make a shelter pet comfortable in your home.
Owning a pet can be overwhelming at times. With Pet Sharing, you can provide the warm lap, the walk in the park, and the snuggles galore – with the goal of moving that pet into a forever home. You will have the support and guidance you need from the rescue organization – and will allow another pet out of the shelter. Win-win!
